9,000 sachets of illegal spirits were on Tuesday netted inside a chemist at Kamukunji estate in Eldoret town. Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan said investigations conducted showed that the spirits were transported from Uganda with drugs making it hard for them to he noticed."According to our statistics over 15 people in Eldoret perished in 2014 after consuming such illegal spirits .I won't allow this to reoccur," he said in Eldoret town on Tuesday."I have declared war on illicit drugs and anyone who will be found consuming or selling will face the wrath of the law.I will work round the clock to finish this menace once and for all," he added.He reiterated that one culprit was arrested and will be taken to court I'm the course of the week. Hassan urged wananchi to act as their watchdog by reporting any individual involved in the sale or using illegal liquor.He called on Uasin Gishu residents to maintain peace and live as brothers ahead of the fresh polls. "We want to assures residents that their security is guaranteed before,during and after elections therefore no cause of alarm," he said.
