According to the lawmakers, Kambi is not qualified to hold office after he was nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The decision by the lawmakers has, however, not augured well with Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.

Jumwa has now termed her colleagues as hypocrites after they decided to oppose Kambi’s nomination.

She argues that the duo is an enemy of the people, adding that the leaders are a shame to the Coastal region after opposing the nomination of one of their own to the position.

Jumwa, who fell out with ODM’s Raila Amolo Odinga, said that she is saddened by the fact that some leaders can oppose Kambi’s appointment to the commission.

“I want to condemn what my colleagues purported to say, that Mr Kambi is not fit to hold the position of NLC board member. That was not right and I am behind him and he has my support. The fact that he has a court case does not mean that judgment has been made. No, the case is still in court and we should give him time to work for us while waiting for the verdict,” Jumwa said.

Kazungu is among those who were listed for the appointment of the position.

Kambi has affirmed that he is the right candidate for the post. Jumwa said that Kambi's appointment will be a big boost in the war against land grabbing and other issues.
