Likoni residents were shocked when a decomposed male body was washed off at the Likoni channel.
The incidence which happened on Tuesday morning left many confused about whose body that could be.
The body was decomposed making it hard to be recognized.
More so, some parts were missing from the body.
Confirming the incidence, Likoni Police boss Jane Munywoki said that the body was retrieved by the police through the help of Kenya Red Cross officials.
Efforts to identify the body are ongoing.
According to Munywoki, the body was seen by the public floating along Florida beach near the Likoni channel, who then alerted the police.
"The body seems to have decomposed. It has been in the water for some days and no one has come to claim it or report a missing person," said the police boss as quoted by Standard Media.
Cases of people dying in the Indian Ocean have been on the rise in recent months.
Last week, another man drove into the Indian Ocean in what the police described as a suicide.
Last month, another man jumped into the ocean from the ferry.
In the same month, a mother and her daughter, died after their vehicle backslid into the ocean from a ferry.
