More human rights activists continue to call for the impeachment of the troubled Migori Governor Okoth Obado.
The county chief was on Monday charged with aiding the murder of Sharon Otieno, a student at Rongo University.
Obado has admitted that the 26-year-old student, who was seven months pregnant, was his girlfriend.
A DNA test conducted last week confirmed he was the father of the unborn baby which also lost its life in a gruesome murder early this month.
Now an activist, Joy Mdivo, wants the people of Migori to think again on whether they should let Obado continue leading them after he was charged with a capital offence.
Speaking on Monday during Citizen TV Day Break show, Mdivo said the county chief has 'embarrased' Migori residents urging them to send him home.
"The Governor admitting that he had an affair with Sharon needs to make his people question if he is the right person to lead them. Parents should ask themselves if they can trust him with their daughters," the activist said.https://mobile.twitter.com/citizentvkenya/status/1044079405495144448?p=v
Mdivo, who is a practising lawyer, said Obado's woes should be a lesson to other county bosses that despite being seen as 'demigods', they were not above the law.
"The case of the Migori Governor has ensured other Governors learn that they do not have immunity. They now know that if they are suspected to have committed an offence, they will be brought in for questioning and held in police custody," she noted.https://mobile.twitter.com/citizentvkenya/status/1044076619651055616?p=v
Obado spent three nights at Gigiri Police Station before he was sent to Industrial Area Prison on Monday.
