Police in Kisumu have arrested the main suspect in the Saturday attack on former Judge Effie Owuor's farm.
The farm manager George Bengo was reportedly killed during the attack.
Bengo, was reportedly lured out of his home in Migosi Estate in Kisumu to the farm in Nyang'ore Village in Muhoroni.
The police have since noted that they arrested the main suspect Isaac Kiptoo alias Malakwen who had reportedly trespassed into part of the vast farm in the volatile region along the Kisumu-Nandi border.
According to Kisumu County Police Commissioner Pauline Dola, the suspect was arrested in Nandi County and is helping the police with investigations.
She added that the police have also impounded two tractors that were being used by the suspects to plough the ex-judge's farm, while the operation to nab the remaining suspects continues.
"We want him to tell us who the two drivers are so that they help us with investigations,” she told the Daily Nation.
County Commander Job Boronjo called for calm among the area communities, noting that the murder was in no way a tribal clash and should not lead to animosity between the Luo and Nandi communities.
“It is an isolated criminal act that should not create animosity among us because we shall deal with the criminals," he said at Potopoto in Chemelil and Kopere Market in Muhoroni.
Judge Owuor's son Paul Owuor was also attacked in the incident and is currently recovering from machete injuries at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.
