For a Kibera girl, getting the money is also important for obvious reasons.

However, there is something our girls can learn from gospel singer Emmy Kosgey.

She says that getting children in a marriage is not the biggest thing a woman should aspire for after exchanging vows.

Speaking 5 years after she got married to her Nigerian tycoon husband Anselm Madubuko, Kosgey said she went into the marriage because she wanted a partner with whom she would find lover and compassion and not just because of getting children.

“I didn’t get married just because I wanted to have kids. Relationships are about unions and destinies. If you are attached to the wrong person, it can affect your destiny permanently. I’m also very busy but yes, I do hope to have my own children one day,” she said.

She said that after all, her husband had children from another marriage and that she took pride in being their mother.

“My step-children respect me and call me mum. I don’t take it for granted,” she disclosed.
