I never dated Jacque Maribe, State House secretary of Digital, Innovations and Diaspora Communications Dennis Itumbi now says.
Itumbi said this in response to a comment by one of his followers on Facebook Thursday after writing a long post which was meant to encourage Maribe who is battling hard times following the arrest of her boyfriend Joseph Kuria Irungu on Tuesday.
Brian Sang Rutto, one of Itumbi’s followers asked him to propose to the Citizen TV anchor now that she is in the eye of a storm following the arrest of her boyfriend over the murder of Monicah Nyawira Kimani, 29, from Kilimani.
“I read from this post a lot of pain hidden in poetry and submission to fate by you Itumbi. If Jacque escapes a jail term, propose to her...its never too late,” he posted.
In a witty response, Itumbi replied: “You know when you create a cinderella story. Then you believe your fiction, you always read in ever step a fulfilment of your fiction. Sorry to bring you back to reality. We never dated. We have and we are good friends.”
However, there is a photo that circulated on social media in the past showing the two locked in each other’s lips.
Kuria is currently in police custody. He was arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts on Wednesday where DCI detectives were given the go-ahead to detain him for 10 days to complete investigations.
