President Uhuru Kenyatta's efforts to unite the country has won him admiration from several quarters around the country, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has said.
And as such, Kalonzo says, he has no problem backing Uhuru to take over as Prime Minister post-2022, although he refused to state whether he's for executive or non-executive PM.
"Uhuru has done what we haven't done before. I love his leadership. I am ready to have him as Prime Minister upon constitutional changes. There is nothing wrong with that. When I say that, I put in mind that we come from the same region. He can be Prime Minister and I can take deputy position," Kalonzo said on Tuesday in Citizen TV.
On the impending referendum, Musyoka insisted that it has garnered momentum, adding that he would go for a hybrid system that would see the introduction of parliamentary and presidential system jointly.
He said the model would reduce negative ethnicity besides handling the recurring post-election violence that has crippled the country in the past.
"People want constitutional changes and this should be the moment to support it. Let's have a hybrid system. It will enable all communities to feel represented," stated Kalonzo.
The former Vice President insisted that he doesn't regret supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying his leadership has quelled political tension.
