Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and his Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart Eng. Alex Tolgos are among tens of Kenyans who will be awarded various orders, decorations, and medals by President Uhuru Kenyatta during today’s Jamhuri day celebrations.

In a gazette notice dated December 10, Mandago and Tolgos are listed among 11 individuals who will be awarded the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, the second class: Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH). 

Mombasa Governor Ali Hasan Joho, Kirinyaga’s Anne Waiguru, Council of Governors (CoG) chairman Josphat Nanok, and Dr. Alfred Mutua are also listed for the award among others.

Apart from Mandago and Tolgos, Rose Kisama, a former nominated Member of Uasin Gishu County Assembly (MCA) will also be feted. 

Kisama who was instrumental in preaching peace and cohesion in the North Rift region after the 2007 Post Election Violence is listed at number 31 of the 94 individuals who will be awarded the Head of State Commendation (HOC) Civilian Division.
