Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi has revealed why there is an increased number of prostitutes who have invaded Kisii town.
Kigochi argues that the increased number of prostitutes in town is as a result of several women who have abandoned their marriages so as to engage in the illicit sex trade business.
"It is worrying that women are leaving marriages to engage in the sex trade. It is high time women should stop pulling out of their marriages for commercial sex businesses," he noted.
The County Commissioner also stated that several young school-going girls who are on April holiday have been thronging Kisii town at night to operate as sex workers.
The county police chief however assured that police will not condone underage girls at the streets within the town.
"I have instructed police officers especially those patrolling at night to ensure no underage girl is in town at night as this will help curb prostitution," said Kigochi.
He challenged local chiefs in deep villages to report to police any woman who has abandoned her kids at home to operate as a sex worker in town for necessary action to be taken.
