Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has detected a possible plan to push Deputy President William Ruto out of the Jubilee Party ahead of his 2022 presidential bid.
On Wednesday, Jubilee Deputy Chair David Murathe and former Mukurweini lawmaker Kabando Wa Kabando hinted that the party and the Mt Kenya region could support a leader from Western in 2022.
And in an interview with Kalenjin's Taach FM Friday morning, Ngunjiri said that this could be a plan to push Ruto out of the party in a bid to cut his feet ahead of time.
He added that himself and other leaders from Central Kenya are ready to decamp with the DP to his party of choice and go ahead to ensure that he gets the top seat.
"Hii inaonekana ni mpango ya kumfukuza naibu was rais kwenye chama lakini wakimfukuza tutahama na yeye (If he attempts to push him out of the party then we will decamp with him to another bloc)," he said.
Ngunjiri said that Ruto's win will not depend on the party on which he is running but his clean track record and the resilience and hardworking he has demonstrated.
"Ruto anafanya kazi kila wakati, amelwta maendeleo na lazima atakuwa rais was nchi hii 2022 (he is a great worker and a development guru, he is the next President)," he added.
Ruto is, however, yet to respond to Murathe's remarks.
