The CS will be spending the night in police custody alongside Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge following their arrest as the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji seeks to unmask the faces behind the loss of Sh63 billion in the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

The two officials were arrested alongside 26 others over claims of flaunting the laws of procurement in the multi-billion project.

Following the directive from the DPP, Rotich presented himself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Monday.

While addressing journalists, DPP Haji said that he has enough evidence to prove that the officials have charges to answer.

“Upon investigations by the DCI, it was established that the conception, procurement and payment process for the Arror and Kimwarer dam projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County were riddled with massive illegalities,” he said.

Haji said that the officers abused their position in the project even as President Uhuru Kenyatta roots for the achievement of the Big Four Agenda before he completes his second and final term in office.

Rotich has since maintained that he is innocent.

Deputy President William Ruto’s allies have termed the arrest of the CS as a political witch-hunt.
