Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has said that he too is awaiting the release of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, which is set for Tuesday.
This comes a day after BBI taskforce chair Yusuf Haji said that the team has secured a date with President Uhuru Kenyatta for the purpose, which was confirmed by the president.
In a tweet on Saturday, the youthful parliamentarian said that he will keenly read and understand the document upon release, as is required of him as a representative of his people.
"I will read, understand and interpret the BBI report on behalf of my great people of Kimilili because that is part of my role," he tweeted.
He added that he will only support the proposals contained in the document if they are if the benefit to his constituents and the common Kenyan citizen.
"I will only support the report if it will be of benefit to the common mwanachi," added the vocal lawmaker.
This comes at a time when the nation, under the leadership of politicians, appear divided on the issue, with some supporting while others opposing the yet-to-be-released report in equal measure.
Forces allied to Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga, with whom he launched the BBI, have pledged to have its proposals.
On the other hand, allies of Deputy President William Ruto have vowed to oppose it, especially if it proposes expansion of the executive.
