Ailing Olympic legend Nyandika Mayioro who was the first Kenyan to participate in the 1954 Commonwealth Games, the first ever major international championships that Kenya participated in, according to Wikipedia is pleading for medical help.

Nyandika, 88 years old, has been ailing for some time now according to his son Ken. Nyandika has spent a lot of cash a move that has rendered him bankrupt and is now appealing for the National Government and County Government to help him offset the present medical bill and get better treatment.

He adds that his land has been grabbed (number 157), a land that he was gifted by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta immediately after leaving the US  in 1966. 

The land is in Kineni, Borabu in Nyamira County.

"My land at 'Esikimu' has been grabbed by people I know and my house at Gusii stadium which was taken by County Government has always given me stress which makes me ill every time I think about it. I plead with Matiang'i and President Uhuru Kenyatta to help me regain my property and clear my hospital bill," he Said.
