The County Government of Nakuru has opened a new maternity wing at Bondeni Maternity Hospital in Nakuru East sub-county.
Speaking during the ceremony, acting Health CECM Engineer Festus Ng'eno said the County has set aside Sh16 million for the construction of a theatre at the hospital.
“The county has also set aside Sh 16 million for the construction of a theatre at this facility,” he said.
According to the CECM, once complete, the theatre will carry out cesarean procedures and thus reduce the number of patients being referred to the Nakuru County Referral Hospital.

He said the County will recruit medical personnel even as facilities are improved to achieve universal healthcare.
The Health chief officer Samuel Mwaura commended the efforts of the hospital’s management and asked residents to seek maternity services at the facility.
Nursing Officer in Charge Rose Mboya said the new facility will help bring down the already low mortality rate.
