Until now, all the leading political figures beginning from President Uhuru Kenyatta have registered for the new Huduma Namba digital identification system.
The registration was launched by Kenyatta on Tuesday and was also supported by ODM leader Raila Odinga who presided over the launch of the exercise in Mombasa.
Fellow opposition figures Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula and other state officers also registered for the same on the same day.
However, until now, Deputy President William Ruto has not been pictured or documented anywhere registering for the same, after skipping the launch set for Kakamega.
Instead, DP Ruto decided to remain behind to host a visiting delegation from Cuba, a move that can easily be linked to the said growing hostility between him and the President.
This is with a consideration that state functions like this are usually planned in advance, and he wouldn't have been scheduled to preside over the launch if he were to host the group.
Unless the visit was sudden, which was most likely not, he was expected to head to Kakamega, which is another indirect demonstration that he is in disagreement with it.
Is it possible that he has since done it away from the cameras anyway, considering that he has repeatedly termed himself Uhuru's respectful servant who is ready to follow instructions?
It is not yet clear, and actually, some social media users allied to him have been lately saying that they are waiting for the DP's signal to go for the registration.
In the instance that he has not done it, this will be proof that things are indeed no longer rosy between the president and his right-hand man.
