Salgaa trading centre is one of the popular regions in Nakuru county.
The small town is just about 30 kilometers from Nakuru town along the busy Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
Here are the three things that make Salgaa town rather ‘famous’ or let's say, infamous.
1. Flesh peddling
No one is hurt more when Salgaa is mentioned than a wife to a truck driver. The centre is famous with broad day prostitution.Young girl waylay truck drivers here with juicy stories of pleasurable nights.
2. Alcoholism
Salgaa town is the melting point of alcoholism in Nakuru County because of it being a stopover for long distance truck drivers plying the Nairobi-Uganda route.
Many truck drivers stop at this point to re-energize and refresh before proceeding with their long journeys.
According to Titus Ngetich, a former area councillor, many youth in the area are alcoholic, and majority of women and young girls use alcohol or other drugs while indulging in prostitution.
3. Black spot
The famous Salgaa black spot has claimed many lives on the busy road, and this has made it a nightmare to many using the route.
The government has however started putting up a wall to make the area dual way and mitigate accidents.
