Samson Charles who weaves baskets in the open next to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town is among the celebrated heroes in the county.

"I urge the Uasin Gishu government to re-locate me to a better place within the town, there is no reasonable market here," Charles said.

He spoke to this writer at his joint on Monday.

Charles said he is suffering since the trade is his only source of livelihood, it pays all his bills ranging from shelter to clothing and food.

"I believe I can do better if moved to a friendly environment," added he.

He said he has been doing the business since he was a teenager.

Charles revealed that he collects his materials from construction sites and converts them to long lasting beautiful shopping baskets.

"On a good day, I make either one or two baskets depending on actual sizes. These sell between Sh500 and Sh1,000," he said.

He said the county's administration is kind to him, its officials never chase him even though he does not have a licence to run the business.
