A 35-year-old man from Mabuteek village in Bomet County has shocked residents after he murdered his three sons.
The man is said to have attempted suicide by hanging himself after committing the crime on Thursday night.
The bodies of the boys aged five, eight and 12 respectively had scratches on the neck and were found on Friday morning by their grandmother.
The man's wife is reported to have gone to her parents home with the youngest son following a domestic quarrel, reports the Daily Nation.
The suspect who was on the run was nabbed at Kinyoki Village by police, with reports indicating that he was heading to Amalo River. It is believed that he was heading to the river to commit suicide after his first attempt failed.
The incident was confirmed by Lelaitich Location chief Robinson Rotich who said the suspect will be held at Sigor pending his arraignment in court.
“Police have arrested the suspect who fled the scene after committing the murders. He is being held at Sigor police post,” said the chief.
The bodies of the three boys were taken to the Longisa County Referral Hospital morgue.
The suspect had earlier been arrested for attacking his neighbour using a machete.
