Teachers, parents and pupils of Nyamerako Primary School have something to smile about after a well-wisher offered to help the school construct pit latrines.
The school was closed indefinitely by public health officers on Friday, June 14 due to lack of toilets.
Eng Robert Pavel Oimeke offered to fund the school to construct toilets for pupils to resume learning.
"If our pupils will not go to school they will kill us. I will give Sh50,000 so that the toilets can be constructed at the school for learning to continue. The work must start immediately and in case the money will not be enough I will come back to add," he said amid cheers from members of the public.
Eng Oimeke who doubles as the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority Director-General assured that he values education, therefore, he will always be ready to help.
"I will not enjoy seeing children stay at home because the school has been closed. As a professional from Bonchari I will not accept. Let the elected leaders work for the people," maintained Oimeke.
Confirming the donation on Monday, Nyamerako Primary School headteacher Albert Nyamete said he contacted Eng Oimeke and pleaded for his help.
"I'm happy after Eng Oimeke agreed to fund the construction of the school. Pupils will return to school on Monday, June 24 2019," Nyamete observed.
