Speaking to members of the press on Wednesday after the attempt failed, the county boss said that those gunning for Ndichu's impeachment lacked the numbers to do so, saying that they were only 32 yet the law required 62.

He contended that the attempt would be doomed.

"Politics is all about numbers. The majority is with the speaker, those who want him. So those who want the speaker to go have failed. (Mambo ya siasa ni numbers. Majority iko na speaker mwenyewe wale wanamtaka. Kwa hivyo hio ya kumtaka aende hio imeanguka)," the Kiambu County boss said.

There was drama at the county assembly on Wednesday as MCAs opposed to the speaker demanded the removal of the speaker.

Those opposed to Ndichu claimed that he had abused his office and that he had engaged in fraudulent acts including incurring expenses by false pretence.

Speaker Ndichu, who is a close ally of Governor Waititu, rebuffed the allegations branding them malicious and politically instigated.

The assembly has long been ravaged by divisions that saw the ouster of Majority Leader Anthony Ikonya and Chief Whip James Mburu.
