The meeting of the duo with ODM Leader Raila Odinga is not good news to Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.  

There are speculations that Raila is seeking new allies as he looks forward to 2022. Mutua and Ngilu have been thorns in the flesh of the Kalonzo in the recent past. 

The two leaders have been working with their Makueni Counterpart Kivutha Kibwana, who has openly defied Kalonzo. 

The county bosses are considered a threat to Kalonzo’s presidency. They have been urging Kalonzo to retire from politics to pave way for the youthful leadership.  

The trio believes Kalonzo has failed to help one of their rise to power. Raila is likely to welcome Mutua and Ngilu to his camp, which will be bad news for Kalonzo. 

The Former Vice President has been asking Kenyans to back his presidency in 2022. He has remained optimistic that he will be elected into power. 

He is banking on the support of Uhuru and Odinga to win the seat.  Mutua’s new relationship with Raila is likely weaken Kalonzo as he eyes presidency.
