Members of the Agikuyu community have been urged to unite and speak in one voice ahead of 2022 General Elections.
Speaking during a Sunday service at Kiamunyeki PCEA church (Jerusalem Parish) in Lanet Umoja Ward, Bahati Member of Parliament Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri noted that the community risked being isolated from future National politics in the absence of unity of purpose.
"I urge my brothers and sisters living in the former central province and those in the diaspora to reason together for the stakes are too high to be taken for granted,” said Ngunjiri.
Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who also attended the service said members of the Agikuyu community may not pay debts but must be ready and be willing to honour promises without fail.
He added that politicians were free to donate money in churches.
The legislator dismissed those opposed to the idea as enemies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“We know those opposing donations in the church don't even attend church services nor assist those preaching the good news," said the MP who was accompanied by his wife Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
The sentiments come just two days after the Rift Valley council of elders raised concerns on the rising temperatures over the 2022 succession politics.
The elders while addressing media in Nakuru on Friday last week called on President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to cool down the temperatures and focus on uniting Kenyans and also realizing development.
