A family is yet to come into terms after a primary school teacher died for allegedly consuming stolen chicken.
This happened on Thursday in Nyamakoroto village, Gesima in Nyamira County. Samuel Morogoro said his sister, Nyaboke, developed a swollen stomach after she ate the chicken.
“Nyaboke was a social woman who interacted with everyone. She ate chicken at our neighbour and started complaining," he said.
Morogoro said his sister was rushed to a local private clinic where she was referred to Nyamira County Hospital.
“We organized for a taxi and took her to hospital but she could not survive. She was pronounced dead even after the doctors could attend to her at Nyamira County hospital,” he noted.
Area assistant chief John Gesami said the neighbor had slaughtered chicken he had stolen.
“The neighbor who gave the deceased chicken meat is a notorious thief. The chicken she ate was stolen and the owner had threatened to bewitch the thief," he said.
Gesami said the woman developed a swollen stomach, a clear indication that the meat she ate had been bewitched by the chicken’s owner.
The administrator said the neighbor has since gone into hiding.
He said the deceased body was moved to Nyamira County hospital mortuary waiting for postmortem.
