First Lady Margret Kenyatta is expected to visit Kisumu on Thursday, to preside over the official launch of the Beyond Zero Medical Safari Kisumu, Chapter.
The First Lady will be accompanied by among others, the First Lady of Mozambique Isaura Nyusi.
Mrs Nyusi arrived in the country on Wednesday afternoon alongside her husband Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.
“Her Excellency Margaret Lotiira Nanok, First Lady Turkana County this afternoon landed at Kisumu International Airport where she was received by Mama Kisumu Dorothy Nyong'o ahead of tomorrow’s Kenya's First Lady H.E Margaret Kenyatta visit to the great county of Kisumu where she is slated to preside over the official launch of the Beyond Zero Medical Safari Kisumu, Chapter,” reads a section of a statement released by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o's Communication Unit.
“Accompanying H.E Margaret Kenyatta will be the First Lady of Mozambique H.E Isaura Ferrão Nyusi,” adds the statement.
According to the statement, at least ten County First Ladies’ are expected to attend the event.
The event will be held at the Jomo Kenya Sports Ground.
Margaret Kenyatta is known across the country for her Beyond Zero initiative which she launched in January 2014, with an aim of ensuring that no mother or child dies before, during or after birth.
The initiative entailed purchasing mobile clinics for various public hospitals in counties across the country.
