The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has hinted on relocating from the Nairobi central business district.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati noted that the move will eliminate the losses incurred by the business community during demonstration against the electoral body.
Mr Chebukati further stated that moving their headquarters away from the CBD will cut off recurrent costs.
Currently, the IEBC headquarters are located at Anniversary Towers along University Way.
“We will train our staffs for the next general election and come up with storage mechanism for documentation,” he said.
The IEBC boss who was speaking during the opening of a two-day workshop on Post Election Evaluation in Mombasa on Thursday also revealed that the IEBC Board will be restructured and there will be public vetting of all staff to ensure accountability.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) held demonstrations outside the IEBC offices in last year, expressing their displeasure on how IEBC was execting its duty.
The protests that were led by opposition leader Raila Odinga brought business to a standstill for several days.
