He noted that police reservists have also been deployed to villages along the borders with Somalia in North Eastern.

The regional coordinator stated that the the reservists understand the terrain and have knowledge on the militants hideouts.

Birik said the government is keen to tame terror agents using North Eastern as routes to stage attacks in the country.

He pleaded with residents to volunteer information to security agencies

“We have stepped up security on the border with Somalia in order to prevent Al-Shabaab militants entrance to the country,” he told Journalists.

Birik also warned people preaching radical teachings to young people.

He said that a hunt is on for some people who have been radicalising youth to join terror groups.

Birik said that no one found aiding terror activities will be spared.

North Eastern region has in recent years been hit with deadly terror attacks.

On April 2, 2015, suspected Al-Shabaab militants attacked Garissa University College, killing 147 students and injuring others.

The attack was one of the worst and saw the government heighten security at the facility and the larger Northern Kenya region.
