Matiang'i, who was speaking at a funeral at Bosiango village in Gachuba, argued that there will be development in Nyamira and Kisii counties if elected leaders will join hands to work as a team.

"People elected leaders who should champion for development. My simple advise to Gusii leaders is that development is the only reward to give our people. This is not time for politics but, delivering campaign promises," he said.

He revealed that he will not make any friendship with leaders who will be out to divide Gusii community members along political lines.

The former education minister reiterated the need for parents to take their children to school saying it is only through education poverty can be eradicated from villages more especially Gusii region.

"We will have future leaders if parents takes children to school. Elected leaders should be at the forefront to ensure bright, poor children children are getting bursaries to continue being in school," said Matiang'i.
