CS Francis Kiunjuri has shielded President Uhuru Kenyatta's brother Muhoho Kenyatta from allegations leveled against about involvement in the smuggling of illicit sugar.
Speaking to the media, Kiunjuri denied reports being bandied about that Muhoho's company Protec was importing sugar, saying that the company had applied for a license but was not given a response.
According to the CS, the MP who named Muhoho was being used by somebody to smear the president.
''Every dog has its owner. Every dog that you see barking out there has its owner,'' Kiunjuri told the press.
Here is a sample of the reactions of Garissa residents:
''The MP has been sent by someone to smear our president,'' Halima Burale said.
''Kiunjuri should not defend anyone. He should allow investigators to do their job,'' Godana Boru said.
''Serem was just playing politics. He should provide evidence,'' Galgalo Sane said.
''We don't want sideshows,'' Abdi Juno said.
"The MP was clearly spreading propaganda," Abdikadir Balo said.
