The over 1800 squatters who are camping near Mogotio town claim that Deputy President William Ruto while on a campaign in the area in 2017 promised to have them resettled.

They said that it has been a long wait for the promise to be fulfilled adding that seven people have died since they camped near Molo river.

The evictees said it is wrong for the sisal farm owner Harry Horn to evict them from the farm without giving them a share yet they had lived and worked in the farm for more than ten years.

They expressed fears that more people might die given the ongoing heavy rains in Nakuru.
