Political analyst Ambrose Weda has defended Deputy President William Ruto following his Sunday attacks on ODM leader Raila Odinga over his alleged involvement in the Sh400 million fake gold scam.
Speaking in Western Kenya, the DP insisted that Raila and his opposition brigade are known cons who have always used tricks to survive, and are once again at it after giving their supporters fake promises ahead of the 2022 general polls.
Weda on Wednesday came to the defence of the DP who has been under criticism from a section of Raila's allies, noting that he was only doing what he knows most, in his capacity as a top politician and an ambitious man.
"Ruto is good at talking. He is one of the best at that in Africa. His tiff with Raila has gotten to a point where one uses anything they get as a weapon against the other and that is what he was doing," said the analyst on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation Show.
He said that the same would have been the case if Ruto was the one in trouble, and he would have received the very same treatment he is now subjecting Raila and group to.
Raila has remained silent on the matter, after his name and that of President Uhuru Kenyatta were dragged into the issue by a leaked audio clip of a man sounding like Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
