Mutua claimed that Kalonzo was paid a whopping Sh350 million to support ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidency in 2013.

The second-time governor alleged the Wiper leader was making money through dubious ways including land grabbing.

In a letter to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, National Lands Commission and Commission on Administrative Justice (Ombudsman), Mutua wanted Kalonzo's wealth investigated.

The governor said the amount in question was delivered to Kalonzo by the former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement party leader also wanted Kalonzo investigated how he acquired a Eurocopter estimated at Sh200 million.

The hostilities between Mutua and Kalonzo were taken to another level when the latter linked the governor to the kidnapping of former Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala’s daughter.

Mutua was not happy with the claims and threatened to sue Kalonzo only for the lady to surface days later.

The two leaders were not seeing each other to face to face until recently when they openly said they are ready to work together following the reunion of President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
