Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta had enough reasons to throw tantrums on Sunday when he was invited as the chief guest during the Akorino Annual Prayer Day at Kasarani.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on Citizen on Tuesday night, Ngunjiri said that the President had enough reasons to hit out at leaders engaging in early campaigns before 2022.
He said that the President, who is completing his second and final term in government, was addressing leaders conducting premature campaigns and not everyone.
“The president was justified to be angry. I do not want to say that he was angry at all of us. He was specific on what he was angry about-premature campaigns,” he said.
He also said that Uhuru was not happy by the fact that leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto were opposing everything he was doing. He said that Ruto’s allies had developed the habit of rebelling against all projects.
“Tangatanga’ have opposed all the things the president is against. They have opposed the ‘Handshake’, engaged in premature campaigns,” he added.
The remarks of the President have continued to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters.
The President made it clear that he will not tolerate leaders who want to politic all the time at the expense of development.
