Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Daniel Manduku attempts to stop his arrest over graft allegations have hit a dead end. This is after the court rejected his application to stop the process.
The KPA boss had moved to court seeking to block the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and Inspector General of Police and from arresting him over the misappropriation of funds at his office.
The dismissal came after the court cross-examined the recommendation based on the case at hand.
Manduku was given a sh.500,000 cash bail pending the hearing and determination of his case in the event that he is arrested at some point in time. Justice Eric Ogola said that Manduku deserves bail, adding that he will not deny him the same if he is arrested over graft.
“Every Kenyan should be arrested with dignity. He fears his arrest is imminent, I’m persuaded to release him on bond or bail pending arrest,” Justice Ogola said.
Manduku has since been given two days to deposit the cash bail to allow for his release in case he is arrested and taken to court over the matter. Ogola has also asked the DPP and Police not to share any information that could interfere with the case.
