Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Saturday stole the show at the Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa as he addressed Former Prime Minister and ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga, baba.
The crowd kept on cheering as the lawmaker made his remarks. The speech of the lawmaker caught the attention of his Siaya counterpart James Orengo.
The lawmaker praised Raila for agreeing to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta before 2022. Murkomen said that he fully supports the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
"Our father Raila Odinga we are happy because today it will be remembered for burying hatred of them versus. Kenya is united.(Baba wetu Raila Odinga tumefurahi leo kwa sababu leo itakumbukwa kuwa tumezika uhasama wa 'us versus them.' Kenya imeshikana kuenda mbele pamoja)" he said.
Murkomen said that he wants the BBI report to address different issues including historical injustices, youth unemployment and election malpractices among others.
He noted that he looks forward to a day when Kenyan leaders will hold rallies at night because all people are busy.
"I want a Kenya where to hold rallies during the day will be almost impossible because all the young people will be busy at work," he said.
Murkomen said that the country must hold a referendum before 2022 to allow for inclusivity and transparency in the leadership of the nation.
