Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos has claimed that senator Kipchumba Murkomen wants him impeached.
Through a press release to media houses on Monday, Tolgos said Murkomen was planning for his impeachment through the County Assembly after he publicly mentioned that corruption proceeds of Arror and Kimwarer dams' scandal were being used to fund political activities in the county.
“I absolutely have no problem speaking for the great People of Elgeyo Marakwet and if by mentioning Arror Kimwarer proceeds makes me be impeached by MCAs, then this is a sacrifice I am ready to take in the best interest of the People and I will never be cowed anyway,” said the governor in part of his statement.
Tolgos further accused the Senate Majority Leader of pulling the strings at the Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly with an aim of creating disharmony for purposes of selfish political interests.
“After all, if I am to go home today, my development record speaks for itself and what I have achieved for the last 7 years will not be erased,” he added.
According to Tolgos, Murkomen is planning to introduce the impeachment motion through Arror MCA Christopher Chemosong who is also the Assembly's Deputy Speaker.
He further said that the Senator was using diversionary tactics in spreading lies claiming that there are ghost workers in the County.
Tolgos was responding to Murkomen who on Sunday during a religious function said there was a big problem in the Elgeyo Marakwet county's leadership.
He claimed there are shoddy works being by Tolgos' administration as well as embezzlement of funds.
