Voters in Kibra constituency will go back to the ballot on November 07, 2019 to elect their new Member of Parliament (MP) in a bid to replace the departed Ken Okoth.
Among those seeking to replace the late Okoth is his younger brother Bernard Okoth, alias Imran.
Speaking on Wednesday morning during Jambo Kenya show on Radio Citizen, Imran who on Saturday bagged the ODM party ticket after emerging the winner in it's nomination exercise, said initially he had no plans of joining politics to replace his brother.
“When my brother Ken Okoth left us, I had no plans of leading residents of Kibra but later when we were moving around Kibra, people of Kibra insisted that they wanted me to take over from where my bother left .(Ndugu yangu marehemu Ken Okoth alipotuacha, sikuwa na hamu ya kuongoza wanaKibra, lakini tulipokuwa tunazuru Kibra baada ya kumzika marehemu Ken Okoth, wakaazi wa Kibra wakasisitiza kuwa wanataka niendelee na uongozi kutoka alipoacha ndugu yangu),” he said.
Ken Okoth died in July after a long battle with cancer.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared a host of candidates ahead of the November 07 by-election.
Imran and ANC flag bearer Eliud Owalo are among those cleared.
