The Chairman of Lake Region Economic bloc (LREB) Wycliffe Oparanya has canceled its fifth summit following the demise of Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso.

The summit was expected to kick off this week, but the sad news of Laboso's death, made it rescheduled.

It had been scheduled to be held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology campus before it was postponed. 

Oparanya said he will communicate when the new dates later.

''We regret any inconvenience caused to our various stakeholders by these untimely changes. We stand in solidarity with the family and the nation,'' Oparanya said as quoted by Standard.

The bloc is made up of fourteen counties namely; Migori, Nyamira, Siaya, Vihiga, Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kisii, Kisumu, Nandi, Trans Nzoia and Kericho.

Laboso died at the Nairobi hospital on Monday afternoon after a long battle with cancer.

Leaders from different quarters have already sent their messages of condolence to the family. 

President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga are among those who have eulogised her as a great warrior.
