According to the family lawyer Charles Kanjama, the condition of Mukhtar is improving but they are considering taking him aboard for more specialised treatment.

Kanjama says that the family is still in discussions and will make a final decision soon.

“The matter is being discussed at the family level and the public will be informed,” he said Monday.

Mukhtar survived an attempted assassination after he was sprayed with bullets by an assassin in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area on August 18.

A key suspect, David Mwai who confessed that he was hired to kill Mukhtar and his lawyer Kanjama died in police cells at the Parklands police station a month ago.

Last month, a section of Garissa leaders fundraised over Sh21 Million for Mukhtar’s medical fund.

Investigations into the former CEC attempted murder is still on.

Garissa Governor Ali Korane is among people who have been quizzed in relation to the attempted murder.

Korane has, however, denied any role in the attempted murder.

Two suspects, Hussein Aden, and Juliet Njoki have since been arraigned and charged in court over Mukhtar’s attempted murder.

The suspects pleaded not guilty and are out on bond.#hivisasaoriginal
