Farmers woes have adversely rocked DP Ruto's 2022 presidential bid having been blamed and linked to the maize crisis by a section of North Rift legislators.

The legislators including Alfred Keter, Joshua Kutuny and Silas Tiren, have been DP’s critics pouring cold water to his political ambition of being the fifth president.

Many say that the three are ‘hired’ to scuttle Ruto's bid so as to prepare the way for Baringo Senator Gideon Moi who is also believed to be eying the coveted position.

Daniel Korir, a political analyst, however, says that farmer’s plight is just but the circus that will not hold water regardless of how immensely politicians against DP Ruto may ride on so as to surmount his candidacy.

“Between Deputy President William Ruto and Senator Gideon Moi, DP is better off the son of Moi taking on the substantive development achieved in his tenure. Farmers' woes politics won't hold waters,” Korir said arguing that Senator Moi despite having a financial war chest to combat in the political arena, he lacks influential discourse to resonate with the electorates.

Korir says that though Ruto's journey to the state house is not automatic, Senator Moi has been thrown into the national politics to test the waters and it won’t be a walk in the park to face DP's abrasive style, well-oiled campaign to consolidate the support of his political allies across the country.

“The man cannot be ignored and overlooked, he has the support of 90 per cent in his backyard, where will Gideon be given surety to be supported if he is a dead bit at home?" Korir noted claiming that politics is all about alliance.

The analyst further says that the only way Mzee Moi’s son can manoeuvre back seeking support from his people is to bury the hatchet with DP and unanimously speak on behave of the community.
