1. Peanut butter

Tryptophan is the amino acid that makes peanut butter a sleep-boosting food. This is the amino acid is an essential part of your body but unfortunately, it is not produced by the body. You have to consume it. More so, peanut butter has a good quantity of proteins that can help you sleep faster especially if paired with a complex carbohydrate.

2. Dairy products

A cup of milk or yoghurt before bedtime is a good way to sleeping peacefully. Like peanut butter, dairy products contain tryptophan. Additionally, calcium stabilizes your nerve fibres and reduces stress. This allows you to sleep easily.

3. Popcorn

Having a bowl of low-fat popcorn is a great late night snack. The snack does not have nutrients that directly soothe you to sleep but its carbohydrates content helps to move the tryptophan you have consumed during the day up to your brain. This will make you drowsy and eventually sleep.

4. Bananas

Bananas should not be restricted to breakfast. They can help you sleep soundly. They have magnesium, tryptophan and potassium. Magnesium and potassium relax your muscles allowing you to fall asleep.
