Despite reports that he may have gone astray due to 'talking to himself', Governor Okoth Obado is said to be continuously reading the Bible and singing most of his time in prison.
Charged with the capital offense of murdering his girlfriend Sharon Otieno, Mr. Obado will know his fate on October 24th when presiding Judge Jessie Lessit makes a determination of his bail application.
A close friend who serves as a nominated MCA in Nyamira, says the governor spends most of his time praising his creator.
"I don't know much about his depression but when I went to visit him, he may have been in low spirits but was determined.
"He sings and reads the Bible a lot in prison besides attending Sunday services with his fellow inmates. He's a staunch Christian and I am sure he will survive," said Fredrick George.
An ODM official also claimed that Mr. Obado has been crying uncontrollably whenever his family visits, an indication of nostalgia.
While Obado concedes being in a romantic relationship with Ms. Otieno, he has however denied working in cohorts with his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero to eliminate the Rongo University student.
Ms. Otieno will be buried on October 19th with county government of Homa Bay taking care of the bills.
