A Jubilee elected MCA in Kisii County has protested over fake microphones at the Assembly.
Tabaka ward MCA Daniel Apepo Ombasa claimed that the faulty microphones have been hindering effective participation in the House.
"We can't continue using faulty microphones. Members of the County Assembly are unable to participate fully in motions because of the faulty microphones. It is high time the Assembly leadership to provide good microphones for effective participation," he said.
According to the MCA, minority members at the Assembly are the ones who have been hit most by faulty microphones.
"It seems there is a scheme to lock us (minority members) from participating in debates. It is so embarrassing that the Assembly lacks good microphones for the MCAs to use while debating on motions," he noted.
The vocal MCA warned majority MCAs against opposing their efforts to have new microphones.
However, the Assembly Deputy Speaker Davis Onuso said he made efforts to ensure the minority leaders join the majority side which has functional microphones in vain.
"I have been trying to ask them to join the majority side which has good microphones but, they claimed their integrity will be compromised," said Onuso.
