Mbugua said that the gap in gender equity in society is one of the factors and reasons that played a bigger role in influencing the mother of two to quit.

She revealed that women face a lot of pressure at home and still experience the very same in the workplace.

Because she has been so passionate in advocating for gender equity, the pressure made her resign.

“There is pressure to be a good mother and there is also pressure at work,” Janet Mbugua revealed to Kiss 100.

She went further to state that the gender equity gap is also felt in wages, where women are forced to settle for fewer wages as compared to their male colleagues.

She revealed that most companies or rather employers do not value women like they value their male employees, which is forcing most women to quit from their job and venture into businesses if they cannot settle for less.

"A working woman in the corporate field has her fair share of challenges especially when it comes to being valued in comparison to their male counterparts," she added.

Mbuguwa was said to have been among the best paid at Royal media.
