Lurambi MP Bishop Titus Khamala has claimed that he was blocked from accessing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rally at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Saturday.
The event, where all the five counties of Western Kenya were represented, was attended by leaders from across the country and presided over by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The MP says that he was locked out and when he was finally allowed in, there was no seat for him at the dais, where other leaders were seated, despite being the area MP.
"I was the host MP but I was locked out on grounds that I was late. When I was finally allowed in, there was no seat for me (Mimi ndiye mkutano ilikuwa kwangu lakini nikafungiwa nje ya gate nikiambiwa nimechelewa. Nilipoingia ndani kiti hakuna)," he said on Wednesday.
The ANC party member made the remarks on Radio Citizen's Pata Shika on Wednesday night, also attended by Gilgil MP Martha Wangare and Kitui Central lawmaker Makali Mulu.
The MP also revealed that some of the people who attended the function were ferried from other parts of the country, claiming that he spotted busses from far places.
"Kakamega was filled with people, some of whom were ferried there in busses. However, that is not an issue since this was a national cohesion campaign (Watu walijaa pale Kakamega, waliletwa na mabasi lakini ni sawa kwa sababu hii ni mambo ya uwiano wa kitaifa)," he added.
The meeting was organized by area governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Senator Cleopa Malala, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli among other local leaders.
