Information, Communications and Technology Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru on Friday hailed Dr Fred Matiang'i as a proven leader, adding that his leadership skills was worth emulating.
Dr Matiang'i was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta early this year as National Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee chairman, a post which literally gives him powers to coordinate activities.
Among others, Dr Matiang'i supervises, coordinates and communicates government projects, a duty which gives him immense powers over his colleagues.
Speaking at Riokindo High School during a fundraiser, Mucheru said Dr Matiang'i is their prefect in cabinet, adding that they take instructions directly from him.
“Dr Matiang’i is our prefect in Cabinet and if he says we come, we have no objection,” Mr Mucheru said.
The cabinet secretary had launched construction of Matutu Police Station in Nyamira where he was accompanied by several local leaders among them Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae.
Other ministers who accompanied Dr Matiang'i were Keriako Tobiko of environment, Prof George Magoha of education and Devolution minister Eugene Wamalwa.
Mr Tobiko hailed Matiang'i's leadership, adding that as government ministers, they only owe allegiance to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Our loyalty and faith is fully with President Uhuru Kenyatta,” the Environment CS said, adding that all ministers have confidence in his leadership.
“As Cabinet secretaries, we are paid by the amount of work we do, not how much we talk,” Mr Tobiko said.
Leaders from Gusii region are pushing Dr Matiang'i to contest for Presidency, and although he's yet to declare interest, all signs are that he's going for a bigger seat.
