This comes shortly after the footballer's campaign vehicles were pelted with stones and his billboards burnt, which comes only weeks to the November 7 mini poll.

In a Facebook post, Owino said that though he does not condone violence, the happenings should come as an eye opener for Mariga that he is unwanted by the voters.

He likened Mariga to the fly that fails to herd advise, only to end up being buried with the corpse, adding that he is better fighting another day.

"I don't support violence at all but I already told Mariga to leave the race for a fly that does not listen to an advise is burried with the corpse," he wrote on Facebook, Sunday.

"The goat that broke the drum of Kibra people is paying with the skin. I am humbly requesting Mariga to leave the race, live to fight another day and plan like Eliud Kipchoge. Let's maintain peace," added the ODM party member.

Mariga has bee under criticism over his bid, with some politocians from both the Jubilee Party and ODM accusing him of accepting to be Deputy President William Ruto's project.

ODM is seeking to retain the seat through Imran Okoth, brother to immediate former MP the late Ken Okoth.
