Two Gusii community candidates in Embakasi South constituency by-election race withdrew in support of ODM candidate Irshad Sumra, who is keen to recapture the seat after losing it to Julius Mawathe.
Mr Enoch Osoro and his colleague Enock Nyaribari joined forces with ODM party following a major rally at City Cabanas that saw hundreds of Abagusii community voters backing Raila Odinga led party.
The ODM party leadership through party treasurer Timothy Bosire and Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said the move was a big boost for the party ahead of April by-election.
"Hon Simba Arati, SG Edwin Sifuna and party’s treasurer Timothy Bosire today led the ODM brigade into meeting the Kisii community living in Embakasi South as they drum up support of our candidate Hon Irshadali Sumra .
"Two candidates (cleared by IEBC) Enosh Osoro and Enock Nyaribari today officially withdrew from the race to support ODM candidate. The community in one voice pledged to campaign and ensure the Sumra wins in the upcoming by-elections to be held on 5th April," ODM party formally reported the new development on Facebook.
Mr Bosire and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, who also doubles as Abagusii community spokesman, mobilised the community to help the party to secure the seat which it had lost to Wiper's Julius Mawathe.
Bosire dragged DP William Ruto's name to the race, insisting that the immediate former MP has been working closely with the DP, further questioning their moral standards.
"I am sure Abagusii people will never disappoint. Two of our brothers have joined the train. Let's not disappoint the party. We know those who are being sponsored through the stolen money. Let's shun them and elect Sumra."
