At Kenyenya over the weekend, Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati intensified campaigns against DP William Ruto as 2022 election battle takes shape.
While addressing thousands of supporters, Arati, a close confidant of Raila Odinga, maintained that Kenya will go for a referendum to change the constitution.
"You can take this to the bank. We shall go to the referendum and we shall change the constitution.
"Uhuru will serve as Prime Minister and Raila the president. That is a fact and anyone opposed to it will finally see," he said, adding that he would run for Kisii County gubernatorial elections.
Few meters from where Arati was addressing his supporters, Ruto had visited youths barely a week before.
In an interview with the BBC, Uhuru was skeptical insisting that he will not extend his term in office.
"Why would I do that? We have laws and as leaders, we must follow them. This is a democracy."
Gusii region is growing as a battle ground with Raila and Ruto, both expected to face each other, visiting the region in six trips combined in August.
