Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to explain how the National Integrated Identity Management System (Niims) will transform the lives of the taxpayers.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Monday, Kabogo said that Kenyans are tired of empty words. He put Uhuru to task to outline how this project will improve the living standards of the common mwananchi.
Kabogo argued that the whole idea doesn’t make sense, adding that it is senseless to waste millions of shillings on the new system when Kenyans need food among other basic needs.
The vocal politician also revealed that he had boarded a matatu on his way to the studio just to hear what people are saying about the Huduma Namba.
“I boarded a matatu at 5 o’clock in the morning. I wanted to hear what Kenyans are saying. Don’t give us this rubbish, tell us how you will improve our lives," said Kabogo.
"Tell us how you will improve a common man’s life. This story about corruption, this story about Huduma Namba, all these stories...Kenyans are tired,” he added.
In his speech on Tuesday, last week, during the launch of the Huduma Namba registration exercise in Mwala, Machakos County, Uhuru assured Kenyans that the programme will work in their favour as far as service delivery is concerned.
